EXPORTING GOLD FROM CAMEROON
The page outlines procedures for the export of gold by Licensed Artisanal Small Gold Mining Associations.
When an association intends to export gold, it must inform the Regional Department of Mines in its local region in writing of its export plans at least two (2) working days before the planned export.
The gold ore must be submitted to a designated assay centre for assaying together with all required export documents.
The gold ore is to be assayed using the appropriate assay method agreed upon by the Artisanal Small-Scale Mining Association and the relevant mining authority.
The relevant mining authority prepares an analysis report and issues copies to the Bank of Cameroon, the Cameroon Revenue Authority Customs Officer stationed at the Assay Centre, and the relevant mining authority.
The association is invoiced for the assay at the stated rate of 0.176% of the value of the gold assayed. This payment is without prejudice to any additional fee that may be charged by the relevant mining authority.
The Cameroon Revenue Authority Customs Official at the Assay Centre inspects and supervises the sealing of the assayed gold with the Customs Division seal and endorses the Customs Declaration Form.
The sealing is carried out in the presence of an authorised representative of the Assay Centre, who also affixes the seal of the Assay Centre.
The Artisanal Small-Scale Mining Association must complete the required documentation at Douala International Airport before exporting the assayed gold.
Gold must not be exported without the required Customs Division seals and complete documentation.
